Athlete: Alison Burnett

Alison Burnett Born: February 11, 1965, from first contraction to birth - 90 minutes, her Mom’s PR
Hometown: San Jose, CA
Triathalon Start: June 2004
Specialty: Long slow distances
Education: BA Management, BS Information Systems
Profession: Business Systems Manager

Alison did her first triathlon, a sprint distance, in September of 2004. Her next race was a half iron distance and from there she was hooked. Since then she’s completed many Olympic and Sprint distance races, 2 ½ Ironmans and 2 full ironmans. Alison has had to overcome a fear of swimming after a near drowning experience when she was 19. She is vertically challenged at 4’ 11” and is hoping for a Pixy category to be added along with the Athena’s at sanctioned races.

Alison has a pesky full time job that really interferes with training. Luckily she works right on the Arizona Ironman course, well actually the course for nearly every local race. So, she runs the local race courses as part of her weekly training. She is also a mom with two great kids, Brandon (20) and Amber (17). Brandon, just did his first triathlon at age 19. Amber is very busy playing competitive soccer and running track. She’s married to another triathlete, who also enjoys the iron distances races, even though they don't seem to enjoy him.
