I got interested in triathlon after my first year of college when I realized I needed to bring some form of physical activity and competition back into my life. Having a moderate background in swimming and running, triathlon seemed to be a great fit. During the next four years of college I was a member of the Cal Poly Triathlon Club and competed in several Olympic and Sprint distance races. Upon graduating from college I took a year off while I transitioned into the work-a-day world and once again I found myself missing the physical activity and competition that had been a corner stone of my life. I spent the next year competing in Xterra’s and managed to qualify for the Xterra World Championships in Hawaii. From here I transition into giving Ironman a shot and spent the first half of 2008 getting ready for Ironman Coeur d’Alene.
